Overthinking Things - The Fractally Crapsack World of Attack on Titan

If you've ever seen Shingiki no Kyojin, or better known as "Attack on Titan", you'd know this is most definitely not a happy world to live in. Humanity is driven to endangered status, there's these giant people-eating humanoids referred to as "Titans" running around, and the only thing keeping the endangered human race from becoming extinct is a large three-three walled city.

But does the levels of suck in this world end there? From certain hints I've seen, I think it's worse than we think...

TL;DR: Eren's dad not only did something to Eren's body but also altered his memories and the government within Wall Sina is most definitely hiding something...potentially fatal to the entire human race...

HUGE WARNING FOR BOTH EPILEPTIC TREES AND SPOILERS (both real and theoretical) AHEAD!
-------------------------------
Before the Colossal Titan showed up and kicked in the gate to the bud town of Zhiganshina, which started the fall of Wall Maria, Eren's dad told him, "Eren... When I get home... I'll show you what's in the basement... that I've been keeping secret all this time." (Page 39 or 40, Panels 4 & 5 of Attack on Titan Vol. 1) That, mostly combined with another scene later in the same volume (Starting on page 117, last 4 panels, all of page 118 even spilling over onto the first panel of page 119.) where that same drunkard from the garrison who saved Eren and Mikasa but couldn't save their mother, asks Eren "Do you remember anything?" then suddenly Eren gets this splitting headache. When everyone asks if he's all right, he responds... "I-Ill be okay...but why does this happen? Feels like my head's...gonna split in two!" Hence why I described it as a 'splitting headache', but here's the important bit... "Even though... I can't remember a damn thing..." then it cuts to what I can assume to be a flashback (mostly because the panel frames are now suddenly black, but also because Eren himself looks like he did at the beginning of the story). But it has...strange events...Eren's crying and worried while his dad is holding a syringe with some unknown substance inside. Eren himself says, "Dad... Stop it! Dad! What are you doing?!" Implying that Eren's father is not in his right mind, this is further proven with the next sentence...which doesn't make any sense considering what we saw earlier in that volume...

"You've been acting crazy ever since Mom died!"

Wait! What!? I thought Eren's mother was eaten by a Titan. But Eren's dad disappeared before the lady we know as Eren's mother died due to becoming a titans meal. So how can this be? Could it be that the lady we think of as Eren's mother is really just as much of an adopted mother to Eren as she is to Mikasa?

Then the next thing to happen in that 'flashback' plus a revelation in a future volume (or episode if you're watching the anime) of Eren being able to turn into a titan himself, I think has dark implications.

In that same flashback just after a young Eren mentioned his mother being dead, his father said, "Eren!! Hold out your arm!" So, does whatever that substance that his father injected into Eren the reason the Eren has a human form in the first place, or is that the reason he has titan shifting abilities in the first place?

It was also noted that the titans tend to come from the south, but why the south in particular? That plus the fact that titans are in fact solar-powered and ignore any animals, seeking to eat humans and only humans...has lead me to a rather unsettling theory...

There's other walled cities and the titans are actually soldiers from the other walled cities or at least another walled city. The government of the city we know of was keeping the existence of the others secret to make sure the citizens don't defect to their enemies. And that Eren's dad is actually a spy from the one of the other cities who's using his own son as a tyke bomb. But then again, we don't really know of his motivations, so either he really could be working against the walled city we know of.

Or...he could've found out how to make a titan shifter and still turned Eren into a not just a tyke bomb...but a laser guided tyke bomb, against the walled city he came from. In which case, the 'fake' mother getting killed would've given motivation for Eren to want to kill the titans (from the other walled city), even if titan shifters like him from the other walled city try to get him to team up with them. Oops, can't happen because you "killed my mother, prepare to die!"

And that's not even mentioning that the cult of the walls, which (the walls themselves) are made of titans. Why do the walls have titans inside of them? Then again, what Eren's dad did to Eren himself may suggest that, in a way, the humans themselves are the source of their own destruction.

...or am I just...overthinking things?
