Now, as I recall, this blog was started after I saw the first episode of Sword Art Online so that's why there's no First Impressions post for the first season. Now that the second series has aired, maybe I can also talk about my thoughts on the first series at the same time...
-------------------------
...Ah, Sword Art Online. The Light Novel (maybe a manga) and anime series about the eponymous virtual reality massive multi-player on-line role-playing game ("VRMMO" for short) that turned out to be a (death) trap. As I recall, it was originally going to be just about the incident with that one VRMMO. Which is a PvE/PvP dungeon crawler... Yes, I realise that having a PvP system in a game where you can actually die in both cyberspace and meatspace would be a bad thing (there's a reason I used that Star Wars meme). But it proved popular enough to warrant a continuation. The second season of the first series then focused on another VRMMO, Alfheilm Online, which is more of a proper PvP VRMMO.
But now... With the airing of Sword Art Online II... We finally get to see the arc focusing on Gun Gale Online ("GGO" for short) animated! Yay! (Yeah, yeah, I know your reason for your enthusiasm is because of your thing for traps of both types.) (What!?) Although we didn't get to see any of it in the first episode, unless you count the opening theme, our hero's avatar in GGO has long hair and an androgynous figure... (So, dude looks like a lady!) Again, what are you guys doing in my first impressions post? (Uh... Well... Okay, I'm just here for the lulz.) Figures...
Like I said about Free! Eternal Summer, I believe I'm going to enjoy watching this series as much as I did the last one. Yes, I know I'm posting this the day before the second episode, but I was stuck in 1863 over the fourth of July weekend. So I could only watch it today.
Point is, I'll most definitely watch episode two tomorrow, see ya then!
