It's most definetely summer! And, you know what time it is! (Time to spin The Wheel of Mythicality?) No, this isn't Good Mythical Morning... (Time to spin The Wheel of Morality...?) "Turn, turn, turn, tell us the lesson that we should learn..." Nope. Besides, Akurei, what are you doing here? (Just wanted to do that one gag, carry on.) Anyway, what I wanted to say is... Season Two of Free! Iwatobi Swim Club is here!
More on this after the jump break...
-----------------------
So... Haruka, Nagisa, Makoto, Rei, and Gou are now in their second year of High School. But some things haven't changed...
I'm still laughing out loud at the gags in this series, even the returning ones... (Haruka's trademark favorite food is still mackerel and the show's still effectively cargo shipping him with water itself) ...And the Swimming Club of Iwatobi High School is still having problems with recruiting new members.
While it is said that the more things change the more things stay the same, there are some changes this time around.
For one thing, that swimming club that our main characters attended as kids has returned. Heck, it's even being called "Iwatobi Swimming Club Returns" for crying out loud! Also, Rin's now the captain of the Samezuka Swim Club... (And speaking of Rin, we were teased with a return of his character tic of snapping the strap of his goggles... but that was interrupted. Dang it!)
And speaking of the rival swimming club, it has a new member! One that we're told is scary skilled... (What can I say, I love alliteration.) But I should've known that this new character we've heard about in the previews wasn't going to join the Iwatobi Swim Club. I mean, he doesn't even have a gender-blender name for crying out loud! Maybe that's why they have such a bad time trying to recruit new members, most people don't give their kids gender-blender names...
So, from what I've seen so far, what with the similar gags, the cast is still full of pretty boys, and plenty of swimming action. If you liked the first season you're going to like the second season as well. As for me? Yeah, I'm pretty much going to enjoy this "eternal summer"...
