Hello! I'm just now publishing this post, even though I watched the first episode during the NaNoWriMo Hiatus, I've just kept this post in draft form 'till the beginning of December. Now, let's start this (belated) record of my..."first impressions" of this particular series...
So, here's what we've got... a young lady who's cursed hair can never be cut (under normal circumstances anyway), cursed lineages ('cause, you know, evil's "in the blood" and all), and the descendants of psychotic murders (the aforementioned "cursed lineages") all have cursed heirloom weapons that have been passed down for generations, oh... and also a protagonist (from one of these cursed lineages) who seems to have a hair fetish (more like a "hair cutting" fetish).
Our hero, Kiri Haimura (ladies and gentlemen) 'coincidently' ends up at the home of our heroine, Iwai Mushiyanokouji, when he just happens to "get off the bus at the wrong stop"... Right... It's more likely that he purposely got off on that stop to investigate a rumor he had heard about a "long-haired ghost" that haunts that house. As Kiri himself admits, although the "ghost" part of said rumor was absolutely false, the rest of it was true. As in the fact that her hair was absurdly long, to the point that he thought giving her a nickname of "The Queen of Hair". Still, he ends up approaching her for the first time (from the outside of an attached greenhouse she was in at the time) as though he was a murderous stalker... And that makes the above summary a bit of a funny aneurysm.
And, during a bunch of scenes that strangely remind me of something...if you know what I mean, we find out about the whole deal about how Iwai's hair just can not be cut, no matter how much she WANTED for her hair to be cut. And, like she said, whenever Kiri tried to cut her hair with normal scissors, absolutely nothing happened. The hair follicles remained as intact as ever. And that's when her "protectors" show up to drag Kiri out of Iwai's place... except both of these two ladies have a creepy and (excuse my use of this word) sinister aura. And that's when we hear from Iwai about both of these ladies are part of an organisation of those descended from psychotic killers and how they each have "Killing Goods", AKA those cursed heirloom weapons I mentioned earlier.
After they (the scary ladies, who are most likely part of the big bad organisation who killed Iwai's parents.) sent him packing the second time he visited Iwai's place (and they, also, refer to her as "The Queen of Hair". "Strange minds think alike" I guess) , Kiri's grandfather reveals his own cursed lineage. From that of a psychotic murder who would, quite literally, cut up his victims. And, considering what he had heard about how the "Killing Goods" are passed down generation to generation and how he (someone descended from a killer like those two ladies) just happened to have a pair of serrated scissors that were passed down in his own family... the fact that the common theory that the weapon used by his murderous ancestor just happened to be "a pair of serrated scissors" was just icing on this proverbial cake, had an idea...
So, Kiri sneaks to Iwai's house that night... cursed scissors in hand as he tells Iwai that he's going to "kill her"... DUDE! What the hell!? ...Our hero, ladies and gentleman. ...Except it was more her long hair Kiri was going to "kill" rather than Iwai herself. And, this time Kiri attempts to cut Iwai's hair with his heirloom cursed scissors and... IT WORKS! IT ACTUALLY WORKS! Now Iwai can have short hair for the first time in her life! Hurray! Actually, I bet wig-making organisations like "Locks of Love" would just love our heroine here...oops! That's something I read spoilers about on TV Tropes.org. And, as for the cursed scissors themselves, Iwai gets the idea of giving them the name "Crime Edge" but, after remembering how his ancestor killed people using those scissors, the aforementioned "Killing Good" ends up being named... "The Severing Crime Edge". And that's a title drop, folks! Still, like most series I decide to watch, this series does look interesting to watch. I'd be happy so see more of this series.
