The End of The World God Only Knows: Goddesses

Well, this is quite the pickle... Keima Katsuragi, the God of Conquest (more like "best gal game player ever"!) has reconquered the girls playing host to five of the six goddesses needed to seal away the old demons and save the world from literally becoming hell on earth. And, as seen in the previous episode, he was just so close to losing at zero trust. How will Keima pull this off? We'll see...

Of course, spoiler alert to any who haven't...'seen the ending' yet.
Note: Yes, I know this post was typed last year, but better this get published late than never.
So, Keima and Chihiro are heading toward the ship where Ayumi is waiting (now wearing that white wedding dress) while invisible to avoid detection by Vintage's goons. Of course they're holding hand due to the fact that they're invisible to everyone, even each other. But when they get separated, Chihiro calls out to Keima to find him...but just because Vintage's goons can't 'see' you doesn't mean they can't 'hear' you. Thankfully, Keima was able to find her again and bluff the goons into thinking it was the wind or something.

But when they get to the ship, Ayumi is demanding that Keima tell her exactly what's going on. But Keima himself is stubborn in keeping the true nature of the situation secret from her, even going so far as to say that he'll only answer one question. But, of course, she decides to ask if he really loves her or not.

I mean there are better questions to ask than that, but something tells me that...like with The Doctor's real name...he wouldn't tell her the truth anyway. Yes, I know that's not an exact quote from the song, still... the two of them... Keima and Ayumi... are still flip-flopping over whither they're taking this whole 'wedding' thing seriously or not, leading to arguments. Your mileage may vary over if they really do love each other or not.

But eventually, Keima and Ayumi do kiss...and Mercurius takes over and earns her wings (but is still sleeping) So Diana has to swoop in and carry Mercurius away to safety while she actually awakens. And at some point, while Keima and Chihiro go to Keima's house to fetch Chihiro's guitar (it was left behind there in the last episode) the Goddesses break the spell on Kanon/Apollo and then the six of them work together to stop the old demons from emerging and turning the human world into hell (literally).

Then, at the Mai High Festival, the 2-B Pencils (Chihiro's band) are just about to attempt to perform with only two of their five band members...okay, I do realize that's a bit too literal a trope to mention here... when the missing members: Ayumi, Else, and Yui show up at the proverbial eleventh hour and they were able to perform, for the most part, just as planned...yeah, even I have to admit that was a bit shoehorned in there. Well, unless you count the remaining goddesses sitting in the rafters and...maybe...providing a feather shower for the stage...I'm not sure if that actually happened or if that was just something only the viewers could see.

But where is Keima during the concert? He's in his usual spot on the roof but he seems to feel...conflicted...and so does Chihiro...maybe?

But...everything goes back to...as close to normal as you can expect for this series. Vintage is taken down and the Loose Souls team gets back to work (which I'm assuming that means that Keima still has some real-world conquering left to do) and when Keima's mom asks where he is, Else pretty much says that his back to normal (for him anyway) but when we next see him, the games at his super station maybe turned on but then, he walks away from the set-up, opens the door to his room, and walks out...

So, maybe he's decided to give the meat space a chance...or maybe not...oh well, so long as he's enjoying his life (even if it looks like he doesn't have a life to normal people) then I'd say this counts as a good ending after all.
