The End of Hayate no Gotoku: Cuties

Today I've seen the twelfth and final episode of Hayate no Gotoku: Cuties, most of the episodes are episodic (of course!) that focuses on a different member of the series "harem" as the heroine for the episode...

WARNING: FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN THE ENTIRE SERIES YET SPOILER ALERT!
Click the link below if you still wish to continue.

...with the main exception of the first episode, which (of course!) stars the "harem hero" of the series as a whole, Hayate Ayasaki. The rest of the episodes features Nagi Sanzenin, Athena Tennousu, Isumi Saginomiya AND Sakuya Aizawa (yes, I know, episode 4 has more than one heroine. It's not the only one), Hinagiku Katsura, The Idiot Trio (Risa Asakaze, Izumi Segawa, and Miki Hanabishi; yes, this episode technically has THREE heroines), Ruka Suirenj, Ayumu Nishizawa, Chiharu Harukaze and Kayura Tsurugino (I swear, this is the last episode with more than one featured heroine), with the last spotlight episode featuring none other than the Sanzenin households one (and I suspect only) maid Maria!

Of the plots of the spotlight episodes these are the ones that stick out in my mind the most...
  • Athena's episode involves the introduction of this strange, large dog that's for some equally strange reason named "Armageddon" (seriously, who the frak names their dog Armageddon!? That's like somebodies parents naming them "Dude") and missing money troubles of Wataru Tachibana's.
  • Hinagiku's episode involves her trying to her shoulders rubbed by Hayate without her directly asking for it (long story short, hilarity ensues) oh, and an EPIC BEACH VOLLEYBALL MATCH OF DOOM!!! (LOL).
  • Ayumu's episode involves her going on a diet while, once it becomes her birthday, Hayate and the others do their best to set up a surprise birthday party while keeping the guest of honor in the dark. While (of course!) Ayumu's left believing that everyone, especially Hayate, forgot about her own birthday.
  • Chiharu Harukaze and Kayura Tsurugino's episode is (mostly)...a maid-focus episode. That's all I'm saying about that.
  • Maria's episode has a flashback to when she went to Hakuou Academy, but most of the episode is Hayate receiving a love letter from a anonymous yandere. Leading Nagi to hatch a plot to discourage said yandere by having Hayate and Maria fake going out on a date (wouldn't that just make things worse), but it turns out to have really been a prank by the Ghost of this priest from back in the first series. Nagi's plan just happens to trick Ayumu and Hinagiku into thinking they were ACTUALLY out on a date, ah well.
Finally, the last two episodes feature a plot where Hayate gets a recurring dream where a tanuki and a broken watch claim that unless he kisses someone before midnight that day, something horrible will happen to Nagi. The same night the "harem members" dream of Hayate (trying to?) kissing them; except for Nagi, who can't seem to wake up that day (dun-dun-DUN!). A convoluted series of events that leads to Hayate fighting a drunk Yujiki Katsura (while dressed somewhat like a magical girl no less) when it's almost midnight latter, the problem is solved when, at the eleventh hour but more technically the last second, Hayate kisses Nagi...on the forehead (figures, that's our chaste hero folks). And the whole thing is implied to be related to the Black Carmella plot from the previous series (Hayate no Gotoku: Can't keep my Eyes off You), but it's more like a 'shove in the right direction' from the ghosts of Nagi's parents (Aw...I think). So...

TL;DR: A more lighthearted episodic series compared to the previous one, but none the less entertaining.
