Alright, second day of my Pokemon Journey is a go! (Yeah! What sort of friends and opponents will I meet today?) (Only time will tell...) In other news... I'm getting the special Torchic today! (What's with the post title?) FoxAcid is pretty much a trojan program the NSA created to hack into users of both The Onion Router (TOR) and FireFox.
Okay, a lady is standing by the counter. And...
Delivery Lady: Good morning! You must be Shimohi. I've got a Mystery Gift here with your name on it. Here you are!
'Shimohi received Torchic!'
Delivery Lady: We look foward to serving you again!
Oh my Arceus! Torchic is one of my favorite Pokemon! Yay! (But...what about...?) Aw, don't worry Tsunebiki, you're one of my favorites as well. That's why I chose you. (Aw...thanks... Well, let's meet the new guy. Hi...Torchic?) Yeah, I know, I got Torchic as a gift, so I didn't get to nickname him. (H-H-Hi...nice to meet you too...) Well, I already have a fire type for the team, but...I'll still kept Torchic around!
I checked out the clothing store again, good news, it seems it changes it's exact stock everyday; bad news there was still nothing I really wanted. So let's see what type of Gym this town has and... it's that skater dude from yesterday!
Skater: Hey, stranger! Isn't cruising around town on your Roller Skates the best thing ever?
How would I know? I don't have any.
Skater: ...Wait. Do you mean to tell me that you don't even own a pair of Roller Skates?!
Yeah, that's what I just said.
Skater: Then how about this: if you beat me in a Pokemon battle, I'll give you a pair! I can never say no to a contest, not me! So, how about it? Do you wanna battle?
-Yes-
-No-
Well, like you can never say no to a contest, I can never say no to a challenge. So...Challenge Accepted!
Skater: Whether it's Pokemon or Roller Skates, speed is important!
'You are challenged by Roller Skater Rinka! Roller Skater Rinka sent out Zigzagoon!'
Go Sparkle! Give that Zigzagoon a taste of your Thunder Shock! The opposing Zigzagoon Tackles and...Sparkle's a little more worse for wear, but I think she can handle one more attack! (What do you mean!? I can take care of this myself!) And three Thunder Shocks later... Wow, Sparkle could handle it herself... (Told ya!) And she leveled up! (Right on!) Also, Rinka was pwned.
Rinka: You wrapped up the battle before I could reach my top speed!
'Shimohi received [Pokedollar]224 for winning!
Rinka: W-wow! That was amazing! You might even be stronger than a Gym Leader!
*scratches back of head* I don't think my team is that strong yet...
Rinka: All right! Here you go: one spiffy pair of Roller Skates, just as I promised!
'Shimohi obtained the Roller Skates! Shimohi put the Roller Skates in the KEY ITEMS Pocket.'
Rinka: Listen up. I'll read you the instructions for your new pair of Roller Skates, OK? "Our Roller Skates snap right on to any shoes so that you can glide your way around! All you need to do is move the Circle Pad to get those wheels going!" That's all there is to it! So go on! It's your turn. Try gliding about like me!
Well, I can't guarantee that I won't crash into walls or anything else like that... So let's see... Woah! (At least you're not crashing into walls or people so far...) Let's see... so... Now the Circle Pad's for the Skates and D-Pad's for walking and running, fair enough.
Rinka: These Roller Skates are an attachment that can be snapped right on to any shoes! So you can have fun AND look good!
Nice to know, Rinka. Now back to answering the question, "what type of Gym does this town have?" ...And the inside of the Gym's an art gallery. Oh! There's the usual tip guy!
Tip Guy: What's the hustle, little Crustle? Welcome to Santalune City Gym! So, future Champ, this'll be your first time challenging a Gym, huh?
Well, in this lifetime, yes. As a whole, nope, I've challenged other gyms in past lives...
Tip Guy: Are you thrilled? Are you pumped?
Not really, I just want to know what type of Gym this is...
Tip Guy: You should be! No worries here! You've got Pokemon on your side! (Yeah!) (Got that right!) (Adventure Time!) (What did the leaf monkey say?) Oh... it's nothing you need to know...
Tip Guy: And really, they're the ones who are gonna be doing all the battling.
Of course I know that.
Tip Guy: Am I right or am I right? Right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah...
Tip Guy: Jump on that pole there, and you'll be on your way to where the Gym Leader's a-waitin' for you! Whoops! But wait! Before yo go, I'm supposed to tell you something!
Yes...
Tip Guy: Everybody in this Pokemon Gym uses Bug-type Pokemon, Got it?
Crystal, that's why I came here in the first place. Time to catch a Flying-Type and train the rest of the team! Oh there's this little girl just outside the city... (Who you were avoiding because you thought she was a Trainer...)
Little Girl: I went to the Pokemon Center 'cause I was asked to buy Poke Balls.
Okay...why not do a little exploring while I'm at it...
(Skipping this training/exploration run because grinding isn't that interesting...)
Summary: I've found a Super Potion on the ground. Was challenged by Schoolboy Brighton and Preschooler Ella...and won. Reku, Sosaruyaku, and Sparkle leveled up. Caught a Fletchling, I ended up nicknaming her "Suguiko". And latter switched Reku with Suguiko. (Yo! Nice to meet ya!) (Ni-nice to meet you as well...) (Hey!? Why is there a Fetchling feather stuck in my fur!?) (I-It wasn't me...) (Liar, liar, pants on fire...)
'Fletchling the Tiny Robin Pokemon: These friendly Pokemon send signals to one another with beautiful chirps and tail-feather movements.'
As for training Suguiko, I caught a Panpour! I ended up nicknaming her "Misaruzu".
'Panpour the Spray Pokemon: The water stored inside the tuft on its head is full of nutrients. It waters plants with it using its tail.'
I also caught an Azurill! I ened up nicknaming her "Ashizukuoi".
'Azurill the Polka Dot Pokemon: A Pokemon that lives by water. It moves quickly on land by bouncing on its big tail.'
Once most of the team was at level seven, I checked out the inside of the Gym...and there's this huge spider web down below! Although it seems you can only walk on the sticky threads. This youngster challenged me, I won, but I wasn't so sure I'd win considering that the youngster's Ladyba was at level 10...but good thing Ladyba's a Bug/Flying-type and Sparkle's only attack move is Thunder Shock. (Hey! You should trust in us more than that!) Yeah, point there. Round two of the Gym Battles, Sparkle versus a Spewpa... And Sparkle wins...but by just...this much. (Well, that's how well I do against an opponent that I don't have a type advantage against.) That Spewpa mostly used Harden, but that Tackle near the end almost made you faint!
Well, back to more training. During which I caught a Bunnelby! Who I nicknamed, "Giusa".
'Bunnelby the Digging Pokemon: They use their large ears to dig burrows. The will dig the whole night through.'
And also a Pidgey (no it wasn't a shiny one)...who I nicknamed, "Kotori".
'Pidgey the Tiny Bird Pokemon: A common sight in forests and woods. It flaps its wings at ground level to kick up blinding sand.'
Okay, now it's Santalune City Gym Challenge - part 3. This time my Pokemon are at least at level eight and with Tsunebiki at the head of the line.(Hurray! It's my turn to enter the fray!) Here goes nothing!
Lass: Tee hee hee! Suck weak prey! You've been caught right up in my Spider Web!
Who do you think you are? Spider-woman? Black Widow?
'You are challenged by Lass Charlotte!'
Of course she'd be called Charlotte...
'Lass Charlotte sent out Kakuna!'
Go! Tsunebiki! (A cocoon? That bug's kerple is grass...or rather charcoal.) Ember! While the Kakuna uses... Harden. Figures... Tsunebiki, take it away! (Roger!) And... it's down! You know the saying, there's no "kill like overkill". And Tsunebiki powered up! (Cool!) Let's see... Charlotte will send out a Combee next... (Don't worry, I've got this.) Okie-dokie-loki! And... it's time to sling some Embers! (Where did that wind come from?) That would be a Gust from the lady Combee over there. (Well, let's see here blow this away...) Ember! The Combee used another gust but...Tsunebiki's Embers powered though and the lady, both the Combee and Charlotte, have been pwned!
Charlotte: Ah... No fair! My web wasn't strong enough to keep you!
'Shimohi received [Pokedollar]216 for winning!'
Charlotte: Don't you think there's something romantic about chasing after glimmering droplets of water?
Well, that does paint an interesting image in my mind... and now to challenge the Gym Leader!
Viola: That determined expression... That glint in your eye that says you're up to the challenge...It's fantastic! Just fantastic! Is this your first time challenging a Gym? Fantastic!
You seem to like the word "fantastic" a lot...
Viola: Whether it's the tears of frustration that follow a loss or the blossoming of joy that comes with victory... They're both great subjects for my camera! Fantastic! This'll be just fantastic! Now come at me!
And I will!
Viola: My lens is always focused on victory-- I won't let anything ruin this shot!
'You are challenged by Leader Viola! Leader Viola sent out Surskit!'
Go! Suguiko! (Wha-what... *glint in eye*) Suguiko Quickly Attacks while the Surskit splashes water around as if it was a Water Sport. Suguiko turns around for a Tackle, but is Quickly Attacked by the Surskit first. (Looks like this is going to be a battle of the Quick Attacks...) Surskit goes first, but Suguiko has more health. And it's more of the same... (Just...once...more...) And then Viola uses a potion... (What?) I think Sparkle needs to take over from here... (Do your best, Sparkle...) Okay, Suguiko. Come back! Sparkle, you're in charge! (Yes, I am!) And Sparkle runs head long into a stream of Bubbles. (For that, you're going to get the Thunder Shock of your life!) Which paralizes the Surskit, but not enough to prevent another Bubble stream. Just once more Sparkle! And...the Surskit is down! I can sense that Viola will send out Vivillon next...Sparkle's taken too much damage, I'm going to switch to Tsunebiki. Please understand, Sparkle, I just don't want you to faint. (*Feh* If you insist...) Sparkle, switch out, come back... Come on out Tsunebiki! (Here comes the fire and the flames!) Tsunebiki spits Embers at Vivillon, but is hit with an infestation what sickens him. (Wha-what did you do to me...? Oh, you're going to *cough* burn for this!) After a Tackle from Vivillon and some more Embers from Tsunebiki both are weak, but Tsunebiki's just one point away from fainting due to all the coughing. Tsunebiki, come back! Torchic, finish this... wait? I can't switch out? Tsunebiki, looks like you'll have to make one last attack, and hopefully before Vivillon does... but Vivillon goes first and Tsunebiki faints. Torchic, looks like you'll have to avenge Tsunebiki... And Torchic's Ember does the trick. And goes up three levels at the same time! And while I won... Tsunebiki's going to need medical attention right away!
Viola: You and your Pokemon have shown me a whole new depth of field! Fantastic! Just fantastic!
'Shimohi received [Pokedollar]1,920 for winning!'
Viola: Young Trainer, you...
Need to take Tsunebiki to the Pokemon Center soon!
Viola: No, it wasn't you alone. You and your Fletchling have shown me a whole new depth of field! Fantastic! Just fantastic!
'Shimohi received the Bug Badge from Viola!
Viola: With that Bug Badge, Pokemon up to Lv. 30 will listen to your orders in battle... Yup, even if you get them from trades! And here! This TM commemorates your win against a pro photog like me.
'Shimohi obtained TM83 Infestation! Shimohi put the TM83 in the TMs & HMs Pocket.'
Well, at least I know just how devastating Infestation can be...
Viola: Using a TM like that one there lets you teach your Pokemon some new moves quicker than a shutter set to 1/1000 can snap shut! TMs are some of the best gear around. They're point-and-click easy, and you can use them over and over again!
Well, it's certainly more useful then back when they were expendable items...
Viola: Now, the TM that I just gave you if for a move called Infestation. Use it, and it'll be impossible for your opponent to flee from battle!
Now that I learned the hard way...
Viola: Now then, can you zoom in a bit to check out the tent behind me? Take the stairs that you find beyond it, and you'll be back up to the entrance faster than a flash!
Thank you, I have a friend that needs healing badly! I run up the stairs and while going to the door.
(That odd man spotted us.)
Tip Guy: Whoa-ho-ho! Wouldja look at that Bug Badge! Nice! Very nice, future Champ! I bet that schmancy-pants professor who gave you your first Pokemon'd be amazed to see it!
But maybe disappointed that Tsunebiki fainted in the process, now can you let me go now!
Tip Guy: After you heal up your Pokemon in the Pokemon Center, why don'tcha head on up to the Pokemon Lab in Lumiose City and show it to him, huh?
Good idea about the Center, let me get on with that. Thanks! (One bee line to the Pokemon Center later...) Hey! Terry!
Tierno: Oh yeah, Shimo! There's a Poke Mart in the back of a Pokemon Center. It's a good idea to stock up Poke Balls and Potions and stuff at the Poke Mart, too.
Yeah, I have a Paralyze Heal I need replacing. (But then again Shimohi also runs off to...) (Buy a hat!) What!? It's an awesome black outdoor hat! (If you say so...)
But, before I go to Lumiose City, I want to check out Route 22 first... and who's this lady standing by the side of the road?
Rising Star: I learned all of my Pokemon-battling techniques from Viola--the Gym Leader!
You do realise I beat her, right? I have the badge to prove it.
'You are challenged by Rising Star Louise! Rising Start Louise sent out Psyduck!'
Go! Sosaruyaku! (Alright! Time to tear up the dance floor!) (That's the oddest dance I've ever seen...) And the Psyduck Scratches as well. (Well, it takes two to tango.) (Only if it's a tango of the masochism type.) (Do you even listen to what comes out of your mouth!) Sosaruyaku continues to Scratch up while Psyduck is slinging water everywhere. (That's some Water...Sport!) And... (Those two are scratching each other again.) And with one last Scratch, the Psyduck goes down! And now Louise will send out a Litleo... yes I'm switching Pokemon, that sounds like a Fire-type! Maybe Tsunebiki can avenge his own previous loss. (See ya, dude!) (Yo! I've got some Embers waiting to...) That's another Fire-type, let's stick to Scratches. (All right.) And...several Scratches later. Tsunebiki not only wins, but levels up! And I win as well!
Louise: Whoa! You might be even stornger than Viola!
'Shimohi received [Pokedollar]420 for winning!'
Louise: Viola only raises the types of Pokemon that she likes. But you know what? It's probably a better idea to train lots of different types of Pokemon to be ready for any opponent!
I see an item on the ground and... it's blocked off by a spiky tree! Curses... Oh well there's a Lass over there!
Lass: C'mon, Goldeen! Let's show them what we're made of!
'You are challenged by Lass Elin! Lass Elin sent out Goldeen!'
Go! Sosaruyaku! (Time to...?) Yes, "tear up the dance floor" or maybe even the scenery... but that Goldeen hits Sosaruyaku with a Peck, ouch! Time to switch with Sparkle! (Aw, I gotta leave so soon...) (Now it's my time to...Thunder Shock!) And... it's a one-hit knock out. (Yeah! I'm awesome!) So, a Marill is next, why not stick around? I think you can figure out what Sparkle's going to do next... Marill uses Water Gun but before he could Sparkle hits her with a Thunder Shock. Just one more should do it. And... Sparkle wins and levels up! (Booya! How do you like me now!?) And Sparkle also learns Quick Attack. Also, I win.
Okay, by this point it's just pretty much just a...
(One exploration and grind fest later...) I believe I'm ready to head north! But... this Lass by the gate out of town stops me...
Lass: Oh, you... You are, aren't you?
What are you talking about?
Lass: You're one of the kids who got a Pokemon from Augustine Sycamore, right?
Okay, that's true, but why are you asking?
Lass: Would you look at that! You got a Bug Badge! Looks like I might have a new scoop.
Great, a paparazzi... (Hey! I fainted so that the rest of the team could get that badge!)
Lass: To beat Viola at your young age... You really are something, aren't you?
Um... if you count my past lives, I'm older than I look...
Lass: Oh! Sorry, I never did introduce myself, did I?
Alexa: I'm Alexa. The Gym Leader you just faced, Viola is my younger sister.
What the... okay, now I'm confused...
Alexa: I work as a journalist myself. Here, why don't you take this to celebrate getting your first Badge!
'Shimohi obtained the Exp. Share! Shimohi put the Exp. Share in the KEY ITEMS Pocket.'
Alexa: If you have an Exp. Share and you turn it on, all of the Pokemon on your team get Exp. Points, even if they don't ever appear in battle. I hope it helps you with your training!
Yeah... Thanks... But I still have one question... did that Gym battle back there really count or not?
Alexa: I work at the big publishing house up in Lumiose City. Feel free to stop by anytime if you have the next big scoop to share with me!
Well, whatever. To Route 4! And I see a hedge maze, where I find a Repel inside. And I try to sneak past this gardener but...
Gardener: I'm warnin' ya, youngster--my Corphish here has some sharp pincers!
'You are challenged by Gardener Wheaton! Gardener Wheaton sent out Corphish!'
Sosaruyaku and then Sparkle then defeat the Corphish and I win!
Wheaton: Ohhh! You cut us right down to size!
'Shimohi received [Pokedollar]640 for winning!
Wheaton: To keep this garden lookin' fine and proper, it's important to have the right kinds of Pokemon!
And after that I have to go around to pick up the Antidote on the ground. I try to get out of the hedge maze by walking through the wild flowers but then...
'A wild Flabebe appears!' And with Suguiko's help, I catch her!
'Flabebe the Single Bloom Pokemon: It draws out and controls the hidden power of flowers. The flower Flabebe hold is most likely part of it's body.'
And I give her the nickname, "Nayoseiha". (Out of one hedge maze and into another on the other side of the road...) What can I say, I like picking up random items off the ground. And...I find a Super Potion, and a Great Ball. After I get out of the second maze, I stake down the road to find a fountain surrounded with skaters. I try to stake past, but...
Roller Skater: I love Pokemon battles, but they'd be even better if I didn't have to stop skating!
'You are challenged by Roller Skater Calida! Roller Skater Calida sent out Fletchling!' And some effort from Sparkle and Nukibata, we win!
Calida: The moment I stop, down flutters the Fletchling!
'Shimohi received [Pokedollar] for winning!'
Calida: I took up roller skating so I could chase after the Fletchling the fly around here.
After I pass the fountain, I find a Poison Barb in a garden in the middle of the road.
-------------------------------------------
And I think I'm going to camp out for the night. See you next time!
