So, Tomoko Kuroki has spent twelve episodes trying one hare-brained scheme or another to try to 'be more popular' and what does that result in...
A lot of Tomoko totally and completely embarrassing herself, even in ways that I haven't done myself in middle school. And by the end of the episode, she finally figured out what I knew since I typed the post "Watamote the First Impressions"...that being popular doesn't matter anyway. What matters is to be true to yourself and to have fun with your life, although preferably if you having fun doesn't mean hurting others in the process.
Still, there is Imae (...who is introduced in the last episode, what the hell man!?), who is (as described by Tomoko herself) pretty much the anti-Tomoko. But...when we hear her talk to her friends after Tomoko runs away in extreme embarrassment after unintentionally seeing Imae's panties, Imae herself describes Tomoko as, and I quote "cute" and states that she "can't take her eyes off her"...is that a budding lesbian crush, or did the yuri setting on my shipping goggles activate?
Well, even though I'd want to see if that yuri epileptic tree bears any fruit or not, it seems that there just isn't anywhere else this series could go. So, what did I think of it...the result of taking into account both the moments of empathetic feels and the cringe-worthy moments of embarrassment is, meh.
