Hi, I'm back! (And so are us!) (Hajizuku! Stop spitting on me!) (Are you sure there's not just a rain cloud over your head...?) (Yeah... Shimohi's Squirtle is trolling his Pikachu...) (Did anyone ever mention how strange your Pokemon team is?) [sarcasm] No! Really? I didn't notice. [/sarcasm] Well, on to today's events... (Speaking of which, you still haven't done a PR Video yet...) ...Niyagi, do I really have to... (It sure seems like it, "mister"!) *sigh* Fine...
Well, time to head to that studio or whatever...
Studio Employee: Hiya! This way, please! Welcome, Trainer! I haven't seen you around before. Is this your first time here? This is the PR Video Studio! You can jam...
(I think we can skip all of this jazz, the whole spiel can be read in the last post.)
Studio Employee: It's quick and easy. Wanna try it?
-Yes-
-No-
Not right now.
Studio Employee: Is that right? Uh-huh, uh-huh. Well, it only takes a moment, so stop by again anytime!
(What the!? I thought you were going to make that video already!) Not before I checked that room to the left first. (Why?) I wanted to see if a specific someone shows up, if not...I'll bite the proverbial bullet and make that Arceus cursed video. And...no, it's that same lady from last time. *sigh* Fine, time to make that video...
Studio Employee: Oh! I just knew you would! You wanna start right away?
-Yes-
-No-
Might as well get this over with, otherwise Niyagi won't get off my back about this...
Studio Employee: All right then! Here we go! What's your style?
-Energetic-
-Cool-
-Fun-
Hmm... I'm not sure what to pick... (I'd go with "cool".) Meh, why not? (You picked a fire starter!) Did you already forget the meaning of my name? "Shimohi"! The combination of the Japanese words for "Frost" and "Fire": "Shimo" and "Hi"...
Studio Employee: Roger that, boss! Let's get started. On to the studio!
Later...
"OK, stand right there for me!" "Oh yes, that's it exactly... You are so cool right now, I think I might just freeze!" "... ... ... ... ... ..."
Studio Employee: ...Good! Great job on the shoot today! I think this'll be a great video!
Well, this is supposed to star me, I'll be the judge of that... *video plays* (He's feeling to lazy to describe it here...) ...Meh. It was okay...at first, but did they HAVE to repeat my name THAT often!?
Studio Employee: So how did you like it? Cool, huh? I'll save this video for you so that you can watch it again anytime! Do you want to share the Trainer PR Video that we just shot with your pals on the PSS?
-Yes-
-No-
Not entill one is made without that annoying bit in there.
Studio Employee: Got it! Then we just won't show this video to anyone yet. But do come again anytime to shoot another video with us, you got that?
Well, I never talked to the lady in the desk across from that first Studio Employee...
Studio Employee: Hello there! You want the desk on the left over there. Me? My job is to wait here every day for the coolest of Trainers!
Okay, so she's like that one store that kicked me out yesterday... (And... Now Shimohi's just playing Pokemon Amie again...) (Man, you've been playing with your Pokemon a lot lately...) What's this one the TV... It won't tell me anything, what about this Hiker dude?
Hiker: Can you believe it? That you can make a Pikachu-only PR Video?
What!? Seriously? Well, I'm not sure about you, but I'm going to explore the city some more... Let's see...along the Vernal Avenue there's a... Pokemon Salon? And inside there's... I've never seen this kind of Pokemon before...
Unknown Pokemon: Bouaf?
-Fou-bouaf!-
-Ouaf-oua...-
Huh... "Fou-bouaf!"?...
Unknown Pokemon: Ouaf-ouaf-fouaf!
Okay that was strange... (That's because you just tried to talk to a Pokemon!) But I can understand the members of my own team well... (It's a mystery.) Well, maybe this lady here knows more about what this place is for.
Blonde-haired Girl: Hey, hey, guess what! My precious Fufur and me are totally in sync with each other! After all, we get up at the same time, eat at the same times, and go to bed at the same time!
Well, that wasn't helpful... (There's always talking to the person at the counter.) *facepalm* Why didn't I think of that sooner?
Salon Employee: Bienvenue to Friseur Furfrou! Here we can groom your lovely Furfrou into any style that you so desire, dear customer!
Ah, I see... So this is a Salon for "Furfrou"s...
Salon Employee: What kind of style were you thinking of today? Would you like a terrific trim for just [Pokedollar]500?
-Yes-
-No-
As I think you can tell, I don't have a Furfrou. Maybe after I do.
Salon Employee: If you ever wish to try out a new style, you know where to come! We'll be waiting at Friseur Furfrou!
All right, less see what else is here...A cafe... That store that kicked me out yesterday... Well, I think it's high time to go to, I think, Route 5 and...
'Holo Clip received!' Now what is this about? *Picks up Holo Recorder* Hello? This is Shimohi...
Tierno: So, check this out!
Okay Terry, what's up?
Tierno: I'm out on Route 5 right now, and it's just hopping with wild Pokemon! Hurry and come check it out!
And that's the end of that holographic call, a "Holo call" if you will... Well, on to Route 5! (This Guard Station looks more like a cafe...)
Dude in pink suit: Hey!
(...[sarcasm] Great, what does he want? [/sarcasm])
Dude in pink suit: Nice to meet you, friend! They call me Mr. Bonding. Have you heard about O-Powers?
Well... O-Parts: Yes. "O-Powers"... Nope, not at all.
Mr. Bonding: That expression of yours tells me you haven't! Don't worry--I'll tell you all about it.
([sarcasm] Hurray... [/sarcasm])
Mr. Bonding: O-Powers are mysterious forces that have all kinds of useful effects. They can make your Pokemon stronger or even help you get more money! Any friends you have nearby will also benefit from them. They truly are mysterious powers! Let's get started, shall we? It's bonding time!
I think I might... ("Need an adult"? But you are one, in meatspace!) I know...
'You recieved an O-Power from Mr. Bonding. You can now use Attack Power and Defense Power!'
Mr. Bonding: Attack Power increases the Attack stat. And Defense Power increases the Defense stat! That's not all--the powers can gain levels the more you use them! Take a look at the instructions if you want to know more. Remember--you can activate an O-Power using the PSS. Well then, I do believe I shall take my leave right about now. Hope to see yo around!
Okay, that was weird... Now to talk to this guard at the counter.
Guard: Right through this gate is Route 5 also known as Versant Road. It leads to both Parfum Palace and Camphrier Town.
"Camphrier Town", that's our next destination! To Adventcha'! (Adventure!) (Adventcha'!) (Thank Arceus!) (Adventcha'!) (Adventure...I guess.) I step out of the guard station and... suddenly this Lucario's circling around me.
Lucario: Carrrr!
Woh! Where did you come from?
???: Wait! Lucario!!!
Skater: Sorry about that! Are you OK?
Yeah, just so long as this Lucario here wasn't going to attack me or anything like that. Actually, I think Lucario are cool! I have a hat that looks like the head of a Lucario. (No, we're not kidding. Shimohi's wearing said hat in meat space right now!) (Indeed, "he's" had the silly thing since the 10th anniversary celebration for Pokemon...)
Skater: I was just doing some special training with my Lucario when all of a sudden it dashed off... Hey, Lucario! What's going on with you? Did you get drawn in by this boy's aura or something?
Lucario: Carrrr!
(Well, Shimohi's not your average human. That's for sure.)
Skater: Huh. Well, it seems Lucario like you!
-Thanks!-
-You think so?-
Really!? I like Lucario as well! (Let's be friends!)
Skater: See, Lucario can read people's auras. I guess something in your aura has made this one take a liking to a stranger! This Lucario is always getting worked up in battle with my other one.
Sounds like quite the rivalry going on to me.
Skater: Maybe it's just been waiting for a Trainer to appear who's strong enough to challenge it... Oops, sorry! I was on such a roll, I forgot to even introduce myself!
Korrina: I'm Korrina, the Shalour City Gym Leader.
Well... Nice to meet you.
Korrina: If you're collecting Gym Badges, I'm sure we'll be battling sooner or later! I'll be looking forward to it. I hope you know how to roll with the punches!
Well, time to explore the route... what's this to the north? The sign reads "Skate Park"... ([sarcasm] Oh great! Shimohi's going to mess around in the skate park...[/sarcasm]) *Shimohi starts skating around the park* (...Thought so...) Well, at least I didn't completely waste my time, while grinding on a rail, I found a Super Potion! (*ji...*) ON THE GROUND! (You're still a kleptomaniac.)
Further along Route 5 I find...a pair of young girls, possibly twins. Looks like a potential double battle ahead of me...
Twin B: People say we're like two peas in a pod!
Twin A: They say we're two halves of a whole!
'You are challenged by Twins Faith & Joy! Twins Faith & Joy sent out Minun and Plusle!' Go Hajizuku! Go Sparkle! (Yo Yo Yo!) (Who're we facing... *looking at Hajizuku* You'd better not make it "rain" on my face again!) Hajizuku, use Tackle on the Plusle! Sparkle, use Quick Attack on the Minun! (Sparkle starts off with a Quick Attack against the Minun, but then the Plusle hits Sparkle with a Quick Attack of her own.) (Most likely as retaliation for attacking her partner.) (Then the Minun hit's Hijikuzu with another Quick Attack, and Hajikuku himself hits last with a Tackle!) (Hey! You'd better not pick on my team mate!) (Hey you Pikachu knock-off! You're not going to get away with that easily!) (Sounds like both of Shimohi's Pokemon are going to gang up on the Plusle...) (Sparkle strikes with a Quick Attack, Plusle counters with the same, the Minun Grows.) (Maybe they're possing a threat?) (Then Hajizuku Tackles the Plusle.) They're both electric types, I'm surprised they haven't used any electric attacks against Hajizuku by now. Let's continue the normal attacks for now. (Sparkle Quickly Attacks the Plusle, Both the Plusle and Minum then Quickly Attack Hijizuku before the Squirtle himself could then Tackle the Plusle!) Sparkle, you just need to Quickly Attack Plusle one more time! Hajizuku, focus on Minun now! (Sparkle, indeed, uses Quick Attack on Plusle...) (And the little lady goes down...!) (Yo dude, I'm not so rude. I can hold my own, I totally pwn!) Hajizuku powers up a level. (Squirting Turtle, since when did you start rapping!? Me, I'm getting more awesome as usual!) As you can tell, Sparkle also leveled up. (Also, I can shock you stiff now!) (Translation: Sparkle also learned Thunder Wave in return for forgetting Tail Whip.) (You and Shimohi seem to be the only ones who understand what these Pokemon are even saying.) Due to the Exp. Share, Suguiko also leveled up. Anyway, we still have a Minum to deal with. (Speaking of her, she just Quickly Attacked Sparkle. I don't think Sparkles going to see this 'till the end.) (Oh yeah! Just you watch and see, you demon in Shimohi's head! I'll prove you wrong!) (Minum tries to give a Helping Hand to her fallen partner... I doesn't work.) (Of course!) (And then... Shimohi's Pokemon gang up on her with a Quick Attack and Tackle combo. Are you sure Shimohi's not being cruel here?) (I'm still in this fight... I can do this!) (Rain on the rack, I've got your back!) (And those two, once again, are picking on Minum like in the last turn.) Well, those two challenged me. So, Sparkle, let's end this challenge! Quick Attack! (I will win this!) (The Minum goes down! ...And Hajizuku levels up again! Sosaruyaku levels up with the Exp. Share and learns Fury Swipes replacing Play Nice.) (Not that I'd think that a Pokemon who "likes to thrash about" would ever "Play Nice".) Tsunebiki also levels up with the Exp. Share and learns Flame Charge in place of Tail Whip as well. (Watch out future opponents, I'm going to come at you like a great ball of fire! *sparkle* That was cool, wasn't it?)
'You defeated Twins Faith & Joy.'
Faith: Ahh...
Joy: Umm...
'Shimohi recieved [Pokedollar]352 for winning!'
Joy: What's a "dubbel-battel"? Can you eat it? Is it tasty?
Okay, in order. It's a type of battle in which two Pokemon on each side battle each other at once. No, you can't eat it. But sometimes both victory and defeat has been described as having a taste... (Moving on...)
Faith: What's "co-opper-ashun"? Pokemon battles are hard...
"Co-operation" is where you help someone else, and that someone else helps you as well. But when you and your partner, human or Pokemon, co-operate with each other; battles become a bit easier for everyone on your side... (I don't know how you can stand to spout these sappy lines.) Well, I guess it's just that it's both fun and uplifting.
I walk into the nearby tall grass looking for items on the ground when...
'A wild Furfrou appeared!' Go! Hajizuku! Shoot that Water Gun! (But the wild Furfrou uses Baby-Doll Eyes.) (What!? Dude! How does that even work!?) (The wild Furfrou kicks up a Sand Attack into Hajizuku's eyes, but he still hits the wild Furfrou with a Water Gun!) (What!? Again with the Baby-Doll Eyes?! Sorry, but I don't swing that way.) (And Hajizuku hits him with a Water Gun attack!) And I just realized that this could remind people of something. (After a couple of Tackles from Hajizuku and a Sand Attack and a Growl from the wild Furfrou...) Here! Have a Poke Ball! *focuses* Yes! I caught a Furfrou! And Hajizuku leveled up! (Go team!) (Things are going to get a bit more... Bubbly around here.) Sparkle and Suguiko also level up with the Exp. Share. In other news...
'Furfrou the Poodle Pokemon: Trimming its fluffy fur not only makes it more elegant but also increases the swiftness of its movements.' (Of course a poodle Pokemon would be found in a France-based region.) And I shall dub him... "Iwatagenu"! (What?!) From "watage" and "inu" (Or "Fluff" and "Dog".)
Anyway, back to exploring, I walk though the tall grass some more and I find...a Great Ball! But on the way back...
'A wild Bunnelby appeared!' I've already caught this type of Pokemon before. (Nukibata wins and levels up from the experience, rock on!) But then latter on...
'A horde of Gulpin appeared!' (What!? A horde!?) Yes, five of them to be exact. Now this is a new situation... (Nukibata hits the one to the left with a Tackle, but the all the Gulpin attack Nukibata with a bunch of pounds! Dang! Her HP is a bit over half gone!) Well, Tackle that one you hit before and hopefully this goes well... And it goes down! (But the remaining four all use Pound again, and Nukibata's HP is in the red!) Come on Hajizuku! Bubble them all up! (And it deals damage to all four of them! Half still in the green but the other two's HP bar is now yellow!) I'm not sure Hajizuku can survive a second barrage of Pounds... Tsunebiki, it's your turn! (Okay! It's time for a Flame...CHARGE!) And one of them goes down. (Yeah!) (The remaining three Gulpin Pound him, but Tsunebiki's still doing fine. Let's go for a Flame Charge on the last one with the yellow bar! (And another one bites the embers...) (Also, Tsunebiki levels up!) Speaking of Embers... (I didn't hear anyone mention "embers" in any way, shape, or form.) (And Tsunebiki takes down the remaining female Gulpin.) We can still catch this one, Tsunebiki! Scratch him! (And...he goes down as well.) Dang, can't catch 'em all...the time. Well, time to rush back to the Pokemon Center for some healing. (Back at Lumiare City? ...And Shimohi's playing Pokemon Amie again.)
Okay, now that I'm done with that back to exploring Route 5! Back in the tall grass from earlier...
'A wild Pancham appeared!' Go! Nukibata! Tackle him! (And I think the Pancham just used Double-Slap, and it hit hard!) Okay, this time give him a Headbutt! (And for that, the Pancham just Leers at Nukibata.) (Oh no! *looks around for a place to hide*) Don't worry Nukibata, I've got this. Poke Ball, go! *focuses* And...I caught him!
'Pancham the Playful Pokemon: It does its best to be taken seriously by its enemies, but its glare is not sufficiently intimidating. Chewing on a leaf is its trademark.' (Aw come one, Nukibata! The little guy wasn't that scary.) (But...he was staring right at me...) (Oh, right, Nukibata's a Bashful little Zigzagoon...) I'm going to call him... "Tom"! ("Tom"?) As in, "Peeping Tom". (You're never going to let the little guy live that one down.)
Let's see...up these stairs and... Hey Terry! Trevor! What's up?
Trevor: My goodness... Pokemon hordes are certainly intense...
I know what you mean.
Tierno: Yeah! They're just like a dance team made up of Pokemon, aren't they?
Well, at least my team of Nukibata, Hajizuku, and Tsunebiki eventually served those Gulpin a bit ago.
Trevor: Oh, Tierno, do you ever think about anything besides dancing?
Tierno: Nope! Even during Pokemon battles, I'm always checkin' out their moves!
But what if one of them uses a "Falcon Punch!"?
Tierno: And then my feet just starting moving, too! I can't even help it, y'know? Like with Swords Dance! I love it! I guess that's why I can never win...
Well... if at least you're still having fun, then that's cool as well.
Tierno: Oh, hey, it's Shimo!
You've only now just noticed me?
Tierno: Do your Pokemon know any sweet moves?
(Yeah!) (Yeah!) (Oh yeah!)
Tierno: Show me in a battle!
Fine. Challenge Accepted, my friend!
'You are challenged by Pokemon Trainer Tierno! Pokemon Trainer Tierno sent out Corphish!' Go Nukibata! Time for some shell-cracking with a Headbutt! (I-If you say so...) (But that put Nukibata in range for the Vice Grip of Tierno's Corphish.) Nukibata, come back! Sparkle, we need your help! (Of course you need my help!) (And the opposing Corphish used Swords Dance.) (Oh, so you think you're going to win! Bring it on, Shrimp!) Sparkle! Give him a Thunder Shock! (Of course!) (Sparkles Thunder Shock Paralysed Corphish, but that didn't stop him from getting Sparkle into a Vice Grip.) Sparkle, you know what to do. (Yeah, Thunder Shock his claw off!) And... Corphish is down! And Tierno got served!
Tierno: That was some nice footwork!
'Shimohi received [Pokedollar] 1,200 for winning!'
Trevor: Good to see you, Shimohi... Excuse me, I meant Shimo.
Aw, don't worry about it, I'm cool with either name.
Trevor: It really does seem as though Tierno can only think about dancing and moves. When a horde of Pokemon popped out, he just stood there watching them...
And let me guess, he got served.
Tierno: Well, yeah, Trevs! Coming up with the world's best Pokemon dance IS my dream, after all!
And that IS a valid goal to pursue, just as much as it is mine to be a hero and explorer who "walks the Earth" so to speak.
Tierno: I was born to dance! I won't ever stop! Not with moves like this!
I know I just served you, but I agree with you none the less.
Trevor: That's indeed a perfect dream for you, Tierno. I guess I should show just as much dedication to my dream of completing the Pokedex, then! It's good to be serious about some things!
I can be really silly, but I can be serious if I have to.
Trevor: Oh, uh, Shimo? Do take this Honey, won't you?
Oh, why thank you!
'Shimohi obtained Honey!' 'Shimohi put the Honey in the ITEMS Pocket.'
Trevor: You see, using Honey will encourage Pokemon hordes to appear. Though if you are going to challenge a whole horde... You may want to use moves that can hit multiple targets.
Like Hijizuku's Bubble? Anyway, why don't we camp here for the night?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(So, what will happen next?) What sort of Pokemon will I catch? (Will Shimohi find the kind of plot "he" wants?) And will I finally find out what the regions local Evil Team is soon? (Oh, you know, just not in the game itself.)
